Immune checkpoint inhibitors can help fight cancer, but they might also increase the risk of heart problems. We found that people with melanoma who received this treatment might have a higher chance of having heart problems compared to before they started the treatment. Some factors, like having heart problems before the treatment or being older, might also increase the risk. Overall, this study suggests that people with melanoma who receive immune checkpoint inhibitors should be monitored for heart problems.
