Adjuvant Drug-Assisted Bone Healing: Advances and Challenges in Drug Delivery Approaches

What is it about?

Current developments, progress, but also pitfalls and setbacks of drug delivery approaches to support or control bone healing are discussed. The focus is on critical evaluation of recent preclinical studies in which different carrier systems, dual or co-delivery systems, and trigger or targeted delivery systems for the release of a whole range of drugs were investigated. This review article is a direct continuation of three review articles published by the same group in the Topic Issue Bone Healing in Clin Hemorheol Microcirc (2019, Volume 73).
