This review aims to explore the mechanisms by which microbiota derived SCFAs mediate the VLCKD-infant gut microbiota relationship and its therapeutic efficacy in reducing obesity.

The VLCKD has been proven effective as a restricted dietary pattern for treating obesity. However,its influence during pregnancy and lactation on SCFA-producing bacteria in infant gut microbiota and its mechanisms of action in the treatment of obesity are still unknown.
