Why is it important?

This review contributes to a field lacking of evidence supporting the relationship between dietary supplements and lung cancer risk/mortality in asthmatic adult smokers and nonsmokers. Given the significant link between asthma and lung cancer, this link could have health implications for smokers and non-smokers in terms of using dietary supplements.

Perspectives

It is important to evaluate safety and effectiveness of dietary supplement use by adult smokers and non-smokers before, during, and after lung cancer treatment. The efficacy of these supplements in reducing lung cancer risk in asthmatic adult smokers and nonsmokers needs further investigation.
