What is it about?
Cave ecosystem can be very limited in organic energetic nutrients due to the lack of sun light and consequently photosynthesis. Drip water shows as an "opportunity" to transport organic and energetic sources from surface, and one of those source is known to be aromatic compounds. We have found that bacteria that degrade aromatic compounds can be found in cave drip water related samples in quantity that is not found in others samples of the cave.

Why is it important?
This work shows an environment that bacteria may have evolve for a long period to use compounds transported from surface by drip water. We showed that bacteria that degrade aromatic compound can be found in this sample and maybe can be use to expand the knowledge of aromatic degrading bacteria
