Synthesis and Characterization of Holmium-Doped Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

What is it about?

We doped iron oxide nanoparticles with various amount of Ho3+ atoms to investigate the influence on the magnetization, faraday rotation and luminescent behaviour.

Why is it important?

- the crystal structure of the nanoparticles is distorted strongly by the doping - the magnetization is lowered but is still present - Faraday rotation is maintained, but reduced (related to crystal structure) - the particles become fluorescent
