What is it about?
The wear resistance of high-strength cast irons was tested under microabrasion tests. The investigation used two very different abrasive particles in terms of hardness: silica and alumina. The effect of abrasive nature was very significant to the results. Using a softer abrasive - sílica - the difference in Wear changing the grade of cast iron reached 2.5 times.

Why is it important?
The effect of size and hardness of abrasive particles affected the wear resistance in 2.5 times! This result is very important for technological point of view, avoiding hard impurities during the application in engine blocks components.
