What is it about?

Our bibliometric study evaluates the scientific impact of papers dealing with osteoporosis detection by dental panoramic radiographs, by performing citation analysis and cited reference analysis, considering that panoramic radiographs are frequently used during routine dental checkups and before common dental treatment procedures, even though panoramic radiography is not a recognized diagnostic tool for osteoporosis. Our study concludes that osteoporosis detection by dental panoramic radiographs is a heavily investigated research topic, with contributions from Asia, the United States, Europe and South America and many citations per paper. Our study also emphasizes the main indices used for mandibular bone measurements as early detection and screening tools for osteoporosis. We intend to include 3 figures and 3 tables in our manuscript.
