What is it about?

What kind of microbes tended to exist on silane compounds where silver nanoparticles were dispersed? This work clarified the answer.

Why is it important?

The substrate (silver nanoparticles dispersed silane compound coating) has future and has attracted the attention for antifouling purposes of various materials. It could control biofilm formation on them. To make it available for practical industrial purposes, we have to know the microbiome on them in practical environments. This paper shows us the information.

Perspectives

To investigate biofilms, we have to understand the microbiome in practical environments. According to our important hypothesis, materials (substrates) fix the microbiome on them, wherever the materials exist. This work will make contribution to the understanding of the hypothesis.
