What is it about?

This study developed and validated the Digital Tool Use Questionnaire for Diabetes (DTUQ-D), a screening tool identifying the type, number, and frequency of digital tools used by Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients within HMOs, online, and via applications. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, including phone surveys and a quantitative study with 367 participants. Results showed that the DTUQ-D is valid and reliable, providing a foundation for future research in evaluating digital tool usage. The study enhances understanding of the role of digital tools in T2DM self-management and can be easily adapted to assess digital tool use for other illnesses by adjusting instructions and wording of certain items.
