High biodiversity in the genus Leptospira

What is it about?

The discovery of an unexpectedly high diversity of Leptospira in tropical soils not only provides insight into the evolution and ecology of this bacterial genus, but also challenges classical diagnostic techniques. In this work, we notably show that MALDI-ToF MS is a powerful tool for identifying leptospires at the species level.
