What is it about?
Nowadays, intelligence means more than government-operated operations and research. Intelligence has also become a private profession, a part of citizen activism and even a hobby. This article presents the wide scale of Citizen Intelligence, CITINT. It also compares differences between CITINT and intelligence made by military, police and other authorities.

Why is it important?
Since CITINT is a popular profession and a hobby for citizens, it needs to be defined and understood as a phenomenon. It is possible that civilians don't know the legislation concerning the matter. If one is a CITINT actor, one must be aware of the legislation and ethics about CITINT. We have to have more studies on CITINT since it is an important factor in modern society.
