How environmental chemicals can affect beta cells and autoimmunity and thereby contribute to type 1 diabetes.

Why is it important?

We do not know why the incidence of type 1 diabetes is increasing; this could be an explanation. Reducing exposures could be a way to prevent type 1 diabetes.

Perspectives

My son and I have type 1 diabetes, I hope to help prevent the disease.
