What is it about?

We consulted experts to list the key research questions that, if answered, would significantly enhance the conservation of cetacean populations globally.

Why is it important?

Funding and resources are limited so it is critical to prioritise where research money and efforts are invested for maximum conservation gains. We highlight 15 areas (knowledge gaps) that should receive priority attention to encourage future efforts in cetacean conservation.

Perspectives

The list of questions is not exhaustive, given the large number of threats faced by cetaceans worldwide. However, our hope is that it will serve as a useful blueprint that can help agencies and policy makers prioritise funding and future activities for maximum conservation impact.
