What is it about?

This publication explains why and how multimodality may be used in order to help college students, especially the English language learners, to better comprehend the meaning of complex print-based texts.

Why is it important?

College students, especially non-native English language speakers, often struggle with comprehension of the dense in content academic texts. It is highly important to assist the struggling readers with deeper meaning making to help them achieve higher academically and in their future careers.

Perspectives

From the perspective of this author (Gould-Yakovleva, O.), people construct the meaning of the text approaching it each from their cultural, historical, and societal perspective. It is important for educators to implement such educational strategies, which might be equally helpful and easy to understand and implement for learners of different educational and cultural backgrounds.
