Human computation (i.e. crowdsourcing) has been gaining a lot of attention in various computer science and related fields. This article presents an overview of the current state of the art in the field, with a specific focus on human computation applications related to Semantic Web

Why is it important?
Critical for the successful application of human computation solutions is to build on lessons learned and benchmarks in the field, especially when it is about a crossover between two fields, e.g. in this case Semantic Web and Human Computation. We are presenting an in-depth analysis of this crossover, which is important both for the advancement of the Semantic Web field, as well as the one of Human Computation.
