What is it about?

Design of mechatronic product families for mass customization and even personalisation needs behavioral modularization, rather than physical modularization during early design stages. In this work, conceptual structure of such behavioural modules and their use in a 3D DSM structure is introduced for the first time.

Why is it important?

The concept and systematic representation of 'behavioural modules' for mechatronic products and their use in a novel 3D DSM structure are the two unique aspects of this study

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure since it forms a basis for a potential methodology that can be applied in designing mechatronic systems and robots to satisfy diverse needs of individuals.
