This paper presents a multiphysics modeling and design methodology for high speed permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) for electric traction applications. In this proposed methodology, the electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical fields are coupled together.

Why is it important?
Coupling modeling and analysis of multiple physical fields is the focus of current research. In this paper, the characteristics of electromagnetic field, temperature field and stress field are used to design the motor, which is necessary to improve the comprehensive performance of the motor.
