Why is it important?

Accurate prediction of individuals who are likely to develop dementia is important for a number of reasons. It can identify individuals who would most benefit from preventative interventions, and who could be recruited to clinical trials to test new drugs which are being developed, to slow the progression of the disease.

Perspectives

Dementia affects an increasing number of people worldwide. Research to identify effective treatments or preventative interventions to delay the onset of the disease, are crucial.
