What is it about?
In evolutionary modelling, the relative importance of the characteristics of sample systems (taxa, objects) may vary depending on the specific context. While some of these may be selected as important, it is essential to verify the efficacy of this selection. The article presents an ordination-based method for this purpose.

Why is it important?
The process of evolutionary modelling is contingent upon the characteristics of the objects in question, which must be identified and taken into account in order to ensure the most accurate and appropriate modelling. It is therefore of the utmost importance to identify and utilise those characteristics that are significant from an evolutionary standpoint throughout the modelling process. This article proposes a methodology for the validation of a specific approach to feature selection.
