What is it about?
In today's digital world, using data to improve efficiency and productivity is becoming more important across various industries. Higher education also follows this trend by adopting e-Learning, a modern and promising way to enhance teaching and student engagement. Despite its potential benefits, the adoption of e-Learning in higher education is still a growing field with limited research available. This study aims to thoroughly review the current literature to understand how e-Learning is being adopted in higher education and to identify areas for future research. To do this, the study examines 63 papers from the Scopus database, covering the years 2017 to 2021. These papers were selected based on specific criteria to ensure their relevance to e-Learning in higher education. The study uses various analysis techniques, including descriptive overviews, citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence. The review found that there has been a significant increase in the use of e-Learning in higher education institutions recently. Key factors influencing the adoption of e-Learning include how easy and useful it is perceived to be, learners' attitudes, their confidence in using it, and the support available. However, more research is needed to understand how different learning and teaching styles affect the acceptance of e-Learning in higher education. The study suggests future research should focus on e-Learning in developing countries, especially regarding its intention, usage, adoption, and impact. It also highlights the need to explore how learning and teaching styles influence the acceptance of e-Learning in higher education institutions. These insights will help develop effective strategies for successfully implementing e-Learning in higher education.

Why is it important?
This study stands out because it offers a comprehensive review of the current state of e-Learning adoption in higher education, something that hasn't been extensively covered before. By systematically analyzing recent research, it identifies key factors that influence the adoption of e-Learning, such as perceived ease of use, usefulness, and learner attitudes. What makes this work unique is its thorough approach, using a systematic literature review and bibliometric methods to examine a substantial number of studies (63 papers) from a reliable database. This ensures that the findings are robust and well-supported. Additionally, the study highlights gaps in the existing research, particularly in understanding the impact of learning and teaching styles on e-Learning acceptance, and calls for further investigation in developing countries. The difference this work might make is significant. By providing a clear picture of where e-Learning adoption currently stands and identifying areas needing more research, it helps educators, policymakers, and researchers understand how to better implement e-Learning strategies. This can lead to more effective educational practices, improved student engagement, and a broader acceptance of e-Learning in higher education. By making these insights accessible and highlighting practical implications, this study has the potential to increase its readership among educators, researchers, and decision-makers interested in the future of higher education.
