What is it about?
Idiopathic complete heart block is one of the most common cardiac presentations of the fibrotic process increasing with aging in the elderly population. Whole blood viscosity also increases with aging and is associated with cardiovascular adverse events. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between whole blood viscosity and complete heart block.

Why is it important?
In this study, we showed that increased blood viscosity may play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of idiopathic complete heart block.
Perspectives
I hope this article sheds light on the etiology of one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in the elderly population, the determinants of its etiopathogenesis have not yet been fully elucidated. And perhaps our findings create an important awareness in the healthcare community of the risk stratification of the elderly population.
