What is it about?
Research on the multifaceted characteristics such as psychological status, physical performance, and ADL in patients with persistent severe acute LBP as a result of acute VCFs is lacking. This study aimed to investigate the difference in improvement of multifaceted outcomes between older female patients with persistent severe acute LBP and those with mild LBP arising from acute VCFs.

These findings may help identify strategies for the prevention of persistent severe acute LBP in older patients with VCFs.
Perspectives
Our study findings reinforce the importance of multi-faceted evaluations in the acute phase of VCFs as patients with persistent severe pain have not only psychological problems but physical problems as well. These findings indicate that improvement of depressive symptoms, pain catastrophizing, and physical performance is expected to improve LBP in the acute phase of VCFs.
