What is it about?

Article described an optimal control problem associated with diffusion-reaction –precipitation equations in a porous medium. Article starts with an microscopic system of optimal control problem. Later that microscopic system is upscaled to macroscopic system by homogenization process. Optimality condition is established both for microscopic and macroscopic description.

Why is it important?

Nonlinear precipitation term in the mathematical modelling is the main contribution in the article. Further, homogenization of such optimal control problem in porous medium is quite new.

Perspectives

In this article, precipitation is occurred on the boundary of solid matrices. Main goal of this control problem is to control the concentrations of reactants (chemical species / mobile species) in the porous part so that precipitation on the boundary of the solid part doesn't block the pore part.
