What is it about?

A more holistic index was developed to express water quality of a waterbody conveniently. A case study was performed for the purpose with a number of waterbodies in Tripura - a north eastern state of India. The index is based on some important criteria like Hazard Potential, Cost of Mitigation, Ulility and Popularity of the Water Quality Parameters. RSM and ANP were used to determine the relative importance of the parameters. The index was compared with NSF WQI for validation.

The index is comparatively objective and non preferential as MCDM was used to determine the priority values of the parameters.
