What is it about?
A simple add-on adaptive control algorithm is presented. It is demonstrated via example that the performance of existing missile autopilot can be improved. The algorithm involves the synthesis of parallel feedforward which guarantees that the controlled plant is almost strictly positive real (ASPR). It is proved in the paper that such a parallel feedforward always exists. The proof is based on the parameterization of a set of stabilizing controllers. This parameterization enables straight-forward design and implementation of the add-on simple adaptive control (SAC) algorithm.
