What is it about?
We have looked at a number of recent publications which have evaluated reasons why more patients are becoming sick with spine infections. Drug use is a leading reason why more patient GS are developing spine infections.

Why is it important?
Spontaneous Spinal infections are a serious problem. Delay in diagnosis can lead to paralysis, severe spinal deformity, failure of multiple organs or even death. recreational drug use and drug addiction are serious contributing factors and have been overlooked problems.
Perspectives
More expanded national studies will be necessary to better understand this emerging public health problem and develop better drug abuse prevention strategies.
