What is it about?
This study reviews non-drug treatments that can help reduce high blood pressure (hypertension) in patients, particularly those in emergency rooms (ER/IGD). A systematic review of 9 studies identified several effective methods, including Buteyko breathing, Bee-Humming Breathing, Bhramari Pranayama, aerobic exercises, green tea extract, resistance training, inspiratory muscle strength training, and stretching exercises. Among these, Buteyko breathing and Bhramari Pranayama are the most practical because they require little time and can be easily applied in emergency settings. These findings highlight the importance of simple, accessible, and safe methods to help control blood pressure without medication.

Why is it important?
Hypertension is known as a "silent killer" because it often has no symptoms but increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Many patients do not have immediate access to medication, so alternative methods are needed. This study shows that simple breathing techniques and exercises can help lower blood pressure quickly, providing a safe and effective solution for managing hypertension, especially in emergency cases.
Perspectives
Managing high blood pressure should not rely only on medication. Simple, natural methods like breathing exercises and physical activity can be life-saving tools for hypertensive patients. These techniques are cost-effective, easy to implement, and have no side effects, making them a valuable addition to standard hypertension care. Encouraging their use in hospitals and emergency rooms can help improve patient outcomes and reduce complications.
