This article discusses endeavors by an elementary school teacher, who modified the district-mandated curriculum in order to help her students succeed and achieve higher academically.

Perspectives

At her own risk to be penalized or even fired for not following the mandated by the school district curriculum, the teacher in the focus of this research undertakes chains of actions aiming to provide her students with high quality education. This educator may serve as a role model for generations of pre-service and in-service teachers.
