What is it about?
This article addresses the phenomenon of fansubbing in China, focusing on translation from Spanish into Chinese, a rather under-researched language pair in subtitling. Its main aim is to make a contrastive analysis between professional subtitling and fansubbing in this languange combination based on a case study. In order to do so, two different versions of the translation into Chinese of the Spanish soap opera "El tiempo entre costuras have been analysed": the professional one by CCTV and the one by the fansubbing group YYeTs. Several elements have been examined, including technical aspects and elements related to translation. Results show that both versions present differences and similarities, although no clear tendency can be established in terms of translation norms, either domestication or foreignisation.

Why is it important?
It is one of the first articles to tackle this topic with this language combination. It is interesting because our findings do not confirm tendencies in other language pairs.
