What is it about?
Mitochondrial diseases are devastating and we're realizing they are more common, now that diagnostics have been improved based on scientific understanding of the diseases. However, we still don't have a cure, and a lot remains a mystery. This report brings together research from several laboratories with the commonality of studying this using a tiny worm - they have mitochondria too but are overall more simple for studying basic fundamentals of biology and pharmacology.

Why is it important?
This is one of the only scientific reviews of the current literature that focuses purely on worm-based discoveries' implications for mitochondrial diseases in humans.
Perspectives
I really enjoyed tying together results from across the globe, bringing them into context with each other, comparing and contrasting, to build a comprehensive picture of the forefront of knowledge in this interesting field, with a view towards medical applications. It was really satisfying to systematically address different aspects, drawn from various sources, that are better understood once put together.
