What is it about?
Around the world, deaths are behaving in a way which had previously been not thought possible. On/off switching is where deaths suddenly jump to a higher level and stay higher for around 12 months before reverting back to the baseline level. This behavior shows spatial spread as is expected from an infectious agent.
