What is it about?
Developing a laser Thomson scattering test bed for measuring plasma characteristics for a laser triggered spark gap switch. The results are high resolution electron density and temperature measurements with errors less than 10%. This proved the feasibility of the measurement system for plasma characteristics during the current pulse.

Why is it important?
To successfully model the behavior of High-Voltage Laser-Triggered switches, accurate models of the plasma channel development are required. To date, there have been few studies characterizing the plasma characteristics during the operation of these switches. This paper documents the development of a test bed that will allow for the measurement of plasma characteristics during the operational phase for a HV-LTS.
