What is it about?
A simulation of the performance of a passive stability control method for compression systems. Casing treatment, in the form of studs protruding off the casing into the duct, is studied through computational simulations. The computations show a potential for its successful application.

Why is it important?
This form of casing treatment, if implemented physically as part of a propulsion system, could be a simple way to bring stability on the compression system when adverse operating conditions are encountered.
