What is it about?

Supercritical n-decane flowing in different orientation ducts is thoroughly investigated. An attachment point and a separation point are found in vertical tubes at a small and large heat flux/mass flux, respectively. Correspondingly, the heat transfer is enhanced or weakened. The wall shear stress is beneficial to heat transfer but also relies on the distribution profile. Thermal acceleration can really diminish the HTD phenomenon but it is not the cause of the difference in heat transfer.
