What is it about?
Arc-jets are commonly used to replicate high-energy flow to test heat shield material. However, the flow conditions are very difficult to characterize, which adds additional uncertainties to the testing campaigns. The current paper aims at using Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer to help understand the flow conditions.
