What is it about?

With added prestress, there is a variation in the wave propagation in structures. Three types of beams, namely sandwich, metallic portal, and metallic box, are analyzed using Carrera Unified Formulation in this work, and the influence brought about by prestress is investigated on wave behavior. It shows that with an increase in stress, the structure becomes stiffer, thereby affecting the vibration frequency. These results can be used to improve the design of both materials and structures for better sound absorption and noise insulation.
