What is it about?

The work apply the Spectral Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (SPOD) to the airfoil active control study. We observed the similarities between the SPOD decomposed modes and traditional modal analysis tools, such as the Resolvent Analysis and Dynamic Mode Decomposition. SPOD was found to provide robust energy based decomposition that could aid the maximization of the response mode from the plasma actuator used for active flow control on the airfoil. The wake responses under the active flow control are summarized in this study.
