What is it about?
The aerodynamic behavior and functionality of supersonic and hypersonic transportation and propulsion systems are adversely affected by shock-induced separation of the flow from the surface. By installing microramp vortex generators upstream of such separation regions, the boundary-layer flow is modified in a way that reduced the separation and alleviates its negative effects.
