Control of Shock-Induced Separation of a Turbulent Boundary Layer Using Air-Jet Vortex Generators

What is it about?

In numerous air and space transportation applications, a separation induced by a shock-wave interacting with a boundary layer has strong detrimental effects. We investigate a promising new technique of air-jet injection and show that it mitigates the separation of flow, while reducing potential drag penalties.
