What is it about?

Flow separation leads to reduction in the lift force and increase in drag. A surface actuation in the form of a backward traveling wave over the suction side of an airfoil is shown to reduce flow separation. Furthermore, it is shown that the actuation in the form of traveling wave performs better than standing or forward traveling wave.
