What is it about?
In an effort to better understand aerothermoelastic phenomena in hypersonic flows, a series of high-fidelity computer simulations have been completed of a flat plate and compression ramp configuration with an embedded compliant panel at high Mach number. We observe reductions in means heat transfer and skin friction for compliant cases, frequency coupling, and make comparisons to reduced-order aerodynamic models.
