What is it about?

Simulating the development of aircraft wake-vortices in the atmosphere involves many different turbulent scales and proves to be difficult. We have developed a hybrid method where the bidirectional interaction between aircraft and atmosphere can be studied. This includes transient atmospheric effects on the aircraft, which in turn lead to disturbances in its wake. The whole bi-directional interaction is captured by our method.
