What is it about?
High-performance military aircraft noise comes from different mechanisms. Spectral models for each of these types of noise have been created from laboratory-scale studies and are here applied to noise from a tied-down tactical aircraft on a linear ground-based array of 71 microphones. The spectral models used in the decomposition capture the main features of the measured spectra but also reveal limitations of current models.
