What is it about?
An understanding of the noise radiated by a forward-facing step immersed in a turbulent boundary layer is critical from both practical and fundamental perspectives. Measurements of both the near and far-field pressures for forward-facing steps with and without rounded corners are presented. By combining a theoretical approach with measurements, a simple formula to accurately predict the noise from an unrounded forward-facing step is also provided.
