What is it about?
It is a study on the feasibility of using experimental data at molecular scale and using it to build oxidation rates for carbon materials at the macro scale.

Why is it important?
The study shows how one can use experimental data at the molecular scale at the macro scale and this is the first work where true gas-surface interactions are probed at almost atom level resolution that gives true surface reaction probabilities. The data is not polluted by any gas build up on the surface.
