What is it about?
Small unmanned aircraft (or micro aerial vehicles) have limited battery life and high sensitivity to atmospheric gusts. This work develops and implements a control approach that maximizes and minimizes vehicle gust sensitivity to recover the energy in the gust disturbances, and tests the approach in simulation and in an automated experiment. The experiment includes the development of a mathematical model and of a gust generator with known velocity characteristics.
