What is it about?
Slotted, natural-laminar-flow (SNLF) airfoils are a key enabling technology for next generation commercial transport aircraft. This work lays the foundation for leading edge devices incorporation into next generation commercial SNLF wings. We show for the first time the effects of adding leading edge devices (e.g., drooped and morphed) to such airfoils using CFD. It is concluded that the high-lift performance of the system might be sensitive to the slot-width for the. Also, wake bursting is identified as a risk for the system's performance.
