What is it about?
This paper describes a methodology used to create a mathematical model for the aerodynamics of the LA-8 tandem tilt-wing, distributed electric propulsion, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles, like the LA-8, exhibit aerodynamic characteristics of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft as well as complex vehicle-specific phenomena, which require novel model identification techniques, such as those described in the manuscript.
