What is it about?
Unlike reciprocating engines, electric motors can operate at their rated power over a wide range of shaft speeds. Variable-pitch propellers can increase pitch at low shaft speeds and absorb this power. This enables low-noise operation of electric general aviation airplanes where demands for quiet are needed.
